How do I get my official 2019 Safer Schoolies wristband?

Getting an official Safer Schoolies wristband is easy - you just need your valid 2019 Australian Year 12 school photo ID card.

Your school ID card must:

  • include your year level and include the current year (to prove that you are graduating Year 12 this year)
  • include your photo
  • be issued by an Australian high school

No valid school ID = No Schoolies wristband/ID = No Schoolies Hub access

Where do I get my official Safer Schoolies wristband from?

For Schoolies on the Gold Coast, you can get your official Schoolies wristband from the Wristband Centre located on the corner of Surfers Paradise Boulevard and Cypress Avenue.

It will be open:

  • 11am to 8pm - Saturday 16 November 2019
  • 6pm to 8pm - Sunday 17 November to Friday 22 November 2019.

My school ID doesn’t have a photo – how can I get my official Safer Schoolies wristband?

As well as your high school ID card, you will also need to bring your driver’s licence or passport to the Wristband Centre as photographic proof.

My school ID doesn’t have my year level – how can I get my official Safer Schoolies wristband?

You will need to ask your school for a letter (on official school letterhead) confirming that you are a Year 12 school leaver in 2019. Make sure you bring both the letter and your school photographic ID to the Wristband Centre.

I don’t have a Year 12 photo ID at all. Can I still get an official Safer Schoolies wristband?

No.

You will need to prove that you are a genuine Year 12 school leaver. You can do this by bringing your driver’s license or passport with you as well as a letter from your school (on official letterhead) confirming that you are a genuine Year 12 school leaver in 2019. Make sure you bring both the letter and your photographic ID with you to the Wristband Centre.

I dropped out of school, but I am still coming to Schoolies on the Gold Coast. Can I get an official Safer Schoolies wristband?

No.

If you have dropped out of school, the ONLY way you can access an official Safer Schoolies wristband is if you are still studying. For example, you must still be participating in other Australian education pathways e.g. TAFE or a registered apprentice AND you must be able to prove that you would have graduated Year 12 this year.

You will need to provide a letter signed by your Australian Registered Training Organisation (on company letterhead) stating that you are registered as an apprentice or attending TAFE, AND if you had continued your high school education, you would have graduated Year 12 this year. This letter must be brought with you to the Wristband Centre along with your current photo ID.

I am home-schooled and don’t have a current Year 12 school ID. How can I get a Safer Schoolies wristband?

If you are home-schooled, you must provide a letter either from your state’s Department of Education and Training (on Government letterhead) or from your Home-schooling network that states you are a current Year 12 school leaver. This letter and an official photographic ID (e.g. drivers licence or passport) must be brought with you to the Wristband Centre.

What does my official Safer Schoolies wristband entitle me to on the Gold Coast?

An official Safer Schoolies wristband entitles you to access the Schoolies Hub nightly between 7pm and midnight from Saturday 16 – Friday 22 November, 2019. The Schoolies Hub is a fenced, alcohol and drug-free zone on the beach in Surfers Paradise providing nightly DJ entertainment and a Chill Out Night on Tuesday 19 November. The Schoolies Hub can only be accessed by genuine 2019 Year 12 school leavers wearing an official Safer Schoolies wristband.

Can I purchase a Safer Schoolies wristband?

No – if you are attending Schoolies on the Gold Coast, official Safer Schoolies wristbands are free for genuine Year 12 school leavers.

I need to take my Safer Schoolies wristband off for work. Can I get another one?

No. There are no repeat wristbands.

I can’t make it to Wristband Centre until after 8pm. Is there any other way to get a Safer Schoolies wristband after the Centre closes?

No. Official Safer Schoolies wristbands are only issued to schoolies during opening hours stated below. You will have to wait until the following night to access the Wristband Centre.
